The Structure Types And Spatial Feature Of Chinese Wood Dwellings

In the development of human residential building, the Chinese wooden structure well-developed structural system just as stone structure in the West. The craft and skill of Chinese wooden structure accumulated a wealth of experience, through constant improvement. it is the synthesizer the wooden structure. The study of Chinese residence inclined to analyze the relationship between the development of residential building space and the natural environment, cultural practices, economic and technical room in terms of architectural history, with little attention to the linkages of building space and structure, thus result to stagnation of contemporary wooden architecture development. This article analyses the relationship between class residential building in the functional space and structural types. It paves the way to the development of contemporary research also as an useful supplement to the residential building research system.In this paper, the main object of study include lintel, wearing a bucket and dry Lanna-style wooden Residential. Using the theory of architecture, typology, cultural anthropology, through the method of literature research and analogy research, the article sorts out residential structure of majority stock wood architecture, to explore deep relationship between the functional space and the structure type of wooden structure. Firstly this paper presents a brief introduction on the distribution of various types of residence, then selects different regions and ethnic groups as examples of typical residential study. Secondly, the paper analyzes the characteristics of carrying beam, wearing a bucket and dry Lanna-style structure and classify them once again called structural units, then analyzes functions for all types of residential space. Finally, explore structure type and spatial characteristics of Chinese wooden structure residential from three aspects, which are the limitation of structural units to functional space, the combination of structural unit and growing relationship between structural space.The study intends to sort out the relationship between structure type and function space in wooden structure residential, on thus disentangle the effects of the structure to space, lay the foundation for the creation of contemporary architectural structures of wood, and then complement the research system on the wooden structure residential.
