Study On Driving Safety Measures Of City Bus

As a socially oriented service industry, urban public transportation is closely related to the safety of people’s lives and property. However, in recent years, bus accidents occurred frequently, threatened the lives of the masses, in addition, affected the development of urban traffic transportation. In the dynamic traffic system which composed of drivers, vehicles, and other participants, the management for drivers within the traffic participants is the major part. After analyzing 137 accident cases, the present paper vividly describes an important way to reduce accidents and improve safety, by proposing some measures from the survey of working conditions of drivers and current management status of bus safety.Taking city buses in Xi’an as example, it surely elaborates operating status of city buses, vehicle maintenance, line scheduling, individual quality of bus drivers, and their driving labor intensity. On the other hand, it analyses the relationship between bus safety and driving fatigue, traffic characteristics of other traffic participants, road environment, and management. After bus accidents are classified, it puts forward the conclusions of the security problems with some solutions. Based on 137 cases of bus accidents, safety investigation of bus drivers are formulated, and obtains some questionnaire from the safety investigation, then compares with statistic results of these cases. According to the conclusion of cases of bus accidents in Xi’an and the results of bus investigation, combining with their own characteristics of public transport enterprises, practical security measures are put forward for drivers and bus companies. It may provide references for the study of driving safety of city bus, and has practical significance to prevent from the occurrence of accidents.
