In the winter or cold area, roads in most areas will be frozen because of the snow, sleet and other weather conditions, ice condensation attached to the road is not easy to be perceived and form great potential security risk that seriously threaten the safety of driving personnel. Traditional methods such as artificial method, mechanical method, and chemical method and so on have many disadvantages, such as devotion of much manpower and material resources, environmental pollution, vehicles and concrete structures suffering from corrosion and high cost. The heating cable method has the advantages of no pollution, low operating cost, good thermal stability, convenient control. This research selected the heating cable method to melt ice and a new heating material called carbon fiber wire which has high electrothermal conversion efficiency was selected in this paper.Now engineering application cases using heating carbon fiber to melt ice is less and possible practical problems in engineering applications has not been solved, such as the layout of heating cable and construction method, and currently the heating system is controlled by manual work. In this paper, it combined pavement pour ice warning technology and melting ice technology. By predicting the time when the pavement will pour ice occurred, it automatically starts the ice melting system to effectively suppress the occurrence of ice condensate on the pavement in the early formation of ice condensate; when the surface temperature reaches the required value, it automatically disconnects the system, saving manpower and power resources. In order to achieve the intelligent melting ice pavement technology, this paper carried out the following studies:(1) It adopted the technology of pavement surface pour ice early warning, forecasting the time when the sections installed the system pour ice occurred. The system will provide pour ice early warning information in advance for road users and conservation managers, in order to realize the intelligent control of pavement ice melting system.(2) It researched the design method of intelligence melting icepavement from the heating cable selection, laying method, circuit connection form and other aspects. It conducted the cable pavement design and electrical control design for test section chosen, including.(3) It summarized the construction method which is suitable for engineering applications and analyzed the reasonableness point at the construction process of intelligence melting ice pavement, providing reference for analogous engineering applications.(4) According to the engineering application case, it analyzed the cost of the equipment and materials required for the system and the cost of artificial mechanical, and analyzed initial construction costs and operating costs of the intelligent ice melting system. Compared with the cost of construction and the cost of melting ice of other melting ice methods, the economy of the system was evaluated.
