Energy crisis and environmental pollution are the two major challenges for the automotive industry, researching and developing the energy-saving and environmentalfriendly vehicles have been related to the sustainable development of the country. Hybrid Electric Vehicle has combined the advantages of pure electric vehicle and traditional internal combustion engine, so the Hybrid Electric Vehicle is a practical and effective solution to solve the problems of energy saving and environmental protection.The essay based on the collection of a large number of relevant papers and books,doing the research and analysis on principle of Hybrid Electric Vehicle fuel saving, structural characteristics and other concepts related to the topic and doing the analysis in detail on the energy management strategy and key technology of hybrid power system. In the paper, introduced the principle and application method of the simulation software ADVISOR for Hybrid Electric Vehicle.Taking the TOYOTA Prius as the prototype model, constructed the engine, motor, battery and other components of the simulation model and the whole vehicle model. In the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, with ADVISOR as the simulation platform, put in the simulation parameters in the simulation software, set the test performance, select the loop simulation operation, Analysis and comparison of simulation results show that. Based on the model of the second time development of ADVISOR platform, the model is successful, the simulation results are basically consistent with the official data of TOYOTA Prius; And the Hybrid Electric Vehicle can effectively improve the fuel economy and improve the emission performance. At last, some parameters have been optimized.
