| The currency plays an important role in the market circulation field. However, the fast development of market economics and technology improves the accuracy of the counterfeit and makes it more difficult to be identified by using the single-function based identification technique. In order to improve the accuracy of cash registers for counterfeit identification, a counting control and identification system based on multi-sensors and various distinguishing technologies was developed in this paper. In the proposed techniques, the features of counterfeits were extracted through analyzing the differences between the true and counterfeit currency by using various detection technologies.The developed counting control and identification system can be divided into three main subsystems based on its functions, including the data acquisition and processing subsystem, the motor drive subsystem and the interfaces subsystem. Data acquisition and processing subsystem were mainly responsible for the signal acquisition and processing for the signals of fluorescent, infrared and magnetic in order to extract the features for identification and motor controlling. The main function of the motor drive subsystem is to drive the actions of the control system according to the control signals from the data processing subsystem. The interfaces subsystem including the models of button, display,and alarm which is used to support the interfaces for the human and controller interactions.In this paper, a control system for counting machine was designed based on the application of a single chip microcontroller-MSP430F149. The main works were carried out as follows: We have investigated on the topic of the research background and significance, studied security features of RMB and analyzed on the research of paper currency recognition to research theoretical preparation for further study of the subject.(1) To investigate the research background and research progress based on the research objectives.(2) To design the overall scheme of currency-counting machine system.
