Research On Preventive Maintenance Of Cement Pavement In Jiangsu Expressway Toll Plaza And Service Area

Preventive maintenance of asphalt pavement has received attention for a long time. On the contrary, little research about preventive maintenance of cement pavement in expressway toll plaza and service area has been done as yet. Cement pavement condition in toll plaza and service area has a significant influence on the service of expressway. Meanwhile, the maintenance of cement concrete pavement is usually difficult, which involves a relative long curing period. According to the characteristic of cement concrete pavement in expressway toll plaza and service area, concept of preventive maintenance of cement concrete pavement in expressway toll plaza and service area was proposed with the propose of ensuring good condition of cement concrete pavement. In this paper, content and criteria of preventive maintenance of cement pavement in expressway toll plaza and service area were studied, as well as preventive maintenance measure. The main content of this paper is as follows:Firstly, the paper summarized diseases of cement pavement and asphalt pavement, followed by cause analysis of each disease. And then characteristic of preventive maintenance of asphalt pavement and cement pavement were compared, and content of preventive maintenance of cement pavement was subsequently analyzed.Secondly, a survey on cement pavement in service area of Guang-Jing-Xi-Cheng Expressway, Yan-Jing Expressway and Qi-Yang Expressway was launched, with the purpose of evaluating the pavement distress condition and void condition. The paper summarized the main diseases of cement pavement in expressway service area. Furthermore, by a comparative analysis of each index, TKL and FR were finally identified as preventive maintenance index of cement pavement, and threshold value was determined on the basis of the survey data. Finally, criteria of preventive maintenance of cement concrete pavement was established as TKL<25%, FR<1%.Lastly, the maintenance of cement concrete pavement always requires a long curing period, which cannot meet the demand of resuming traffic as soon as possible. To solve the problem above, polyurethane grouting was proposed as a preventive maintenance measure of cement pavement, which maintained void and faulting rapidly.And its feasibility was verified in actual project in Liuchen Service Area of Yan-Jing Expressway.
