With economic development in China, the number of cars is increasing,transport development has not only brought great convenience, but also brought some troubles. There emerges of various types of adapted vehicles with the purpose of increasing the volume of illegal transport phenomena. In order to identify whether the vehicle is modified, car dimensions need to be measured. However, the currently widespread use of artificial methods of measurement has many disadvantages, such as labor-intensive, long time measurement, measurement of human factors susceptible to interference.By comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of methods of measurement of the size of the domestic and foreign cars, we chose the method of measuring binocular vision car size. This paper introduces the principle of binocular stereo vision, binocular vision measurement hardware configuration size cars, and car size measurement process. In the process of measuring the size of cars the image preprocessing, camera calibration, image stitching, perspective correction and stereo matching are involved. This article describes the mean filtering, median filtering and low-pass filtering, and improves wavelet threshold de-noising function to complete the de-noising of images. This paper introduces the principle of the camera imaging model, camera calibration method and eventual adoption Zhang Zhengyou camera calibration method to achieve internal and external camera calibration parameters;details introduces the method of image stitching, and with an improved SIFT algorithm for image mosaic side of the car mosaic image; elaborates the concept of three-dimensional and three-dimensional calibration correction algorithm; details the key technology of stereo matching, feature-based stereo matching, and improved Harris corner detection, and ultimately the stereo matching obtained parallax. Car size finally obtained.This paper made some research for the automotive dimensional measurement provided an effective method, which is of theoretical and practical significance.
