With the implementation of new second-child policy in China, more and more families will have a second child. After the second child is born, the young couple ask their parents to look after their children, which brings a brand-new life style-- a family of six, forming a newfashioned family. So the kitchen has to burden the supply of nutritional food for three generations – old parents, young parents and children, effectively supporting family operation. On one hand newfashioned families have more demands on kitchens, on the other hand the ratio of newfashioned families continuously increases in our country’s family pattern, which deserves the attention and research.The increase of number of people that kitchen need to serve brings demand addition of food varieties and quantities, so kitchen will be required to have more efficient and comfortable operation space and reasonably designed operation process. This research attempts to use optimized design to meet the demand of kitchen users of newfashioned families in easily making infant food and orderly managing equipment and appliances, and efficiently cooking for four to six adults.First, this research analyzes the forming and development status of newfashioned family, doing research on the structure of newfashioned family and on the food verities, quantities and the usage demand in kitchen.Second, the research analyzes the food demand and operation process in a family, obtaining the optimization method of separately cooking infant food and adult food. This section elaborates the three elements of kitchen space layout and electrotype, i.e. architectural structure, kitchen size and operation efficiency, forming the selection method of kitchen space. Meanwhile, this section analyzes the zoning scheme method and appliance location for different type of kitchen functions.Then the research analyzes the appliance sterilization for infant food making and food making methods for different infant growth cycle. The research is directed against the problem of infant cooking appliances disorderly placement on kitchen operation bench, finally works out the relative location of infant cooking area for different house type by counting up the equipment’s sizes, the size calculating for the operation bench region that can be furnished and the calculating of the best operation height.And the research analyzes the reason why the kitchen operation in a newfashioned family is in chaos and the user operation process, proceeding statistics of each function point which the user will go through when making food, reaching high frequency Four Points, and proposes the operation efficiency optimization method to proceed function integration around Four Points.Last part is optimization design. In order to meet the different demand of the newfashioned families, and solve the problems in kitchen usage, I put forward the optimization concept of One Zone Four Points and do optimal design for each zone in the kitchen on the basis of this concept, synthetically forming U type, L type, II font type and I font type series of kitchen design scheme for newfashioned families.The research has drawn four conclusions. First, because the varieties and quantities of food that will be cooked in newfashioned family are big and the demand of operation environment are many, so we need to have two separate zones to cook infant food and adult food in order to meet different demand, to do space optimizing design of the zones improving operation efficiency, thus to reduce kitchen user’s stress. Second, to arrange infant food operation zone with reasonable location in order to solve the problems of operation chaos in making infant food and kitchen equipment disorderly placement; and to solve the problem that different growth cycle needs different food making equipment on the basis of the design for infant food operation zone with changeable space combination. Third, we can relieve the situation of big quantities in adult food making and chaos operation in newfashioned family by integrating function spaces, reasonably exploiting storage and draining spaces in kitchen. Fourth, to design kitchen based on the concept of Optimized One Zone Four Points, optimize user’s operation process, improve efficiency and then meet the usage demand of newfashioned family.This research provides brandnew, comfortable and efficient kitchen design method for more and more newfashioned families, reduces kitchen users’ operation pressure, meets user demand of conveniently making multiple variety and quantity of food, provides better nutrition guarantee for the daily life operation of newfashioned families and offers new design thought for kitchen design.
