| Dong Villages, member of World Hertage tentative list, are mainly located in the foothills at the junction of Hunan, Guangxi and Guizhou provinces in China. For a long time, Dong villages are restricted by terrain, transportation and other conditions. In a unique closed geographical conditions, it develops its own Dong traditional culture, form social organization and Law System of which "kuan" is the core. Based on traditional management Dong has the Outstanding universal value bearing elements of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, settlement and makes them able to maintain stable and orderly co-existence.The unique traditional management model of Dong is the core to maintain long-term stability, it is also an important carrier of Dong culture, and represents an important aspect of cultural heritage values of the Dong villages, but also an important link between physical heritage and intangible heritage. Moreover, the traditional management model makes and controls outstanding universal value elements. However, due to the modern regulatory management system and modernization. The traditional management model, which based on agricultural civilization appears many incongruities and is gradually weakened, which does harm to the heritage. As a typical representative of the Living Heritage Village, there is a lack of a complete case study. The study also has a certain significance to China’s current world heritage villages, tentative list villages, historical villages, traditional villages.Based on the field investigations and literature research, the thesis makes Dong villages of Pingtan River as the representative, interprets heritage value and the elements of value, and to analyze the role of the traditional management model to the formation and control of the value. The thesis analyzes the cause of decline of the traditional management model and impact on heritage. Finally, related cases, the thesis gives proposed management and protection policies for the cultural heritage of the Dong villages. |
