This paper aims to study and explore the Jiangnan Classical Gardens garden essence, applying its concepts and methods to modern residential landscape design to improve the quality of modern residential occupants and meet the spiritual and cultural requirement of modern in order to achieve the role of Chinese traditional culture and innovation. Jiangnan Classical Gardens profoundly thanks to the splendid traditional culture of China, the garden designer go through a variety of techniques to create landscape elements of the distinctive processing, extract in a natural form to develop an art space of "origin from nature but higher than the nature ".Based on the current situation of domestic and abroad, the paper analyzes and summarizes the current situation and deficiencies of modern residential landscape environment, clarifies the requirement of "walking, viewing, living, touring" is the modern residential area aspirations. Studied on Jiangnan classical garden art which permeated from Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, landscape poetry, painting and other philosophical, religious thought and traditional cultural level, refining summary Jiangnan Gardens create a philosophy; through deeply studying and analyzing on space art, landscaping, garden elements and inscription to wake people’s realization of classical gardens culture.
