Porous Asphalt Pavement (PA) is a kind of framework structure with big air voids, which could be about 20%. This structure has well effective air voids so that it has a good performance on draining, which helps improve the safety of driving under raining condition. Besides, the air voids increase the depth of structure, which benefit the performance of anti-slide, noise reducing and temperature decreasing. The reducing of performance is attracting more and more attentions as the porous asphalt pavement is various used in the word today.The performance of porous asphalt pavement contains functional and durable performance. Based on the utilizing environment of porous asphalt pavement, the air voids are selected as the influence factors to functional performance. By studying the aging of asphalt and erosion of water, the durable performance of porous asphalt pavement is analyzed.According to the real project of Wuzhou Avenue in Shanghai, the relationship between air voids and effective voids is analyzed, and the requirements of materials and gradations are stated. Then, three gradations of porous asphalt mixture are designed, and stable properties are tested.The air voids decreasing are researched under load effect and clogging effect. The result provides the clogging is the main factor cased the reducing of air voids. Then, three air voids mixtures (18%~ 20%) are tested, their draining, anti-slide, and anti-clogging performance are studied with indoor laboratory tests. Besides, using aging and erosion test, the abrasion and low temperature stability, water stability and anti-fatigue performance and erosion resistance are analyzed.The results show that the functional performances are reducing with the decreasing of air voids, especially the draining and anti-clogging capacity. The durable performances are decreasing with the influence of aging and erosion. In order to ensure the using performance of porous asphalt pavement, the air voids are required above 18% in principle. In addition, the porous asphalt pavement should be cleaned regularly. When the air voids decay below 20%, the anti-sliding and anti-clogging performance damages are obvious, so the pavement should be cleared up if necessary.
