The Regional Design Strategies Of Shanghai Skyscraper

Since the reform and opening up, Shanghai has been one of the high-rise building centers.Especially since the 1990s the development has been accelerate. As for Shanghai is one of the country’s economic center, the population pressure will exist for a long time. And as a function of the pressure, high-rise buildngs’ construction will persist for a long time. Now after 20 years of high speed construction, Shanghai has been away from the ignorant age pursuing of "novelty" and "speed", the livability of the city is the direction of development. Then the regional design of skyscrapers becomes more and more important. The author summed up the geographical characteristics of Shanghai, from the aspects of natural conditions, history and culture, urban environment. And then she made a research of built skyscapers of Shanghai, and summed up the experience of regional design. After these work, the author summarized the regional design strategies of Shanghai skyscrapers, which will have a positive impact on skyscraper design for not only Shanghai but for the cities across the country.
