Research On The Freeway Traffic Accidents And Countermeasures Under Snow And Ice Conditions

Freeway is an important part of the transport system with its high speed, large capacity. However, with the increasing of freeway traffic mileage and volume, the problems of traffic safety stand out day by day. Especially the accidents caused by unfavorable factors such as snow and ice conditions, it has a large impact on the safety of vehicles on freeway. To ensure the traffic safety in winter, traffic accidents under snow and ice conditions are studied, which helps to prevent traffic accidents and reduce the loss of traffic accidents under snow and ice conditions, and it has an importance significance to enhance freeway traffic safety management in winter.The characteristics of freeway traffic system are analyzed from four aspects:road, drivers, vehicles and environment to find the unfavorable factors affecting the traffic safety.Statistical method is used to analyze the characteristics of traffic accidents. Study consists of the number, severity, spatial and temporal distribution, morphology and transportation, which compares with normal weather conditions. The characteristics of accidents under snow and ice conditions are concluded.Survival model is used to study the duration of traffic accidents. The distribution of the accident duration is learned by way of statistical analysis, then, the significance of the influencing factors is analyzed so as to establish the accelerated failure time model of accident duration.Cumulative logistic regression method is used to study the extent of accidents’damage. According to the actual data quality, the extent of accidents’damage is divided into several types. Eight candidate independent variables are selected to establish prediction model based on cumulative logistic regression. The relationships between the factors and extent of accidents’ damages are studied and the model is tested and verified.Traffic accident prevention countermeasures under snow and ice conditions mean to prevent accidents and reduce accident losses. Some measures are given such as the scheme of speed limit under snow and ice conditions, the plan of snow removal and the emergency response program.
