T-shaped and L-shaped RC Shear walls have been widely used in high-rise buildings. The deformation performance of T-shaped and L-shaped shear walls effects greatly on the seismic behavior of the whole structure. The current seismic design code in China had proposed the performance-based design method, but haven’t provide the method to classify damage states of structures and the quantitative indicators of the seismic performance. The previous theoretical research of this project group has made some achievements through the finite element numerical analysis method. The theoretical research proposed the classified standard of the damage states and the deformation performance index specific to T-shaped and L-shaped shear walls. It should be tested If the deformation performance index is reasonable to be applied to engineering practice. Therefore, a group of T-shaped and L-shaped shear walls were made for the study on the seismic behavior. The main contents include following aspects:(1) 8 T-shaped and 8 L-shaped shear wall specimens were designed in accordance with the current design code. Then the low cyclic loading tests were carried out. The load-displacement curve, the development of the cracks and the characteristics of the damage states had been recorded in detail.(2) Based on the hysteretic curves and the skeleton curves, to study the capacity and ductility when the influence factors include the axial compression ratio, shear span ratio and longitudinal reinforcement ratio changes. Then the load and the displacement of the feature points were given.(3) Based on the skeleton curves of the specimens and the phenomenon in the process of the test, six performance state limits(intact, slightly damaged, slightly-moderately damaged, moderately damaged, severely damaged, and invalid) were given for the concrete specimens in the different directions.(4) The classified standard of the damage states for the specimens and the deformation performance index were modified based on the test result. Finally this paper get the reasonable deformation performance index to provide technical reference and theoretical basis for seismic design of engineering.
