At this stage, along with the rapid development of city rail vehicles industry in major cities of our country, braking control unit as the core unit is widely used in the braking system. However, due to the braking system of different regions have different model, different parameters, so the detection on the braking system is particularly complex, in order to solve this problem, put forward to develop a set of removable testing unit which can be detected for different types of braking systems. This paper research on object that is the braking system used braking control unit as the core, the paper introduces the structure and working principle of braking system of city rail vehicle in detail, and research on the brake types of the braking system, analog pass-through electro-pneumatic braking and digital electro-pneumatic braking. Besides the paper introduces functions of braking system during braking, including service braking, emergency braking, fast braking, parking brake, anti-skid control functions.The test bench hardware system consists of IPC, PLC, proportional valves, solenoid valves, frequency output module, CAN and MVB cards, signal conditioning board, pressure sensors and other components, achieving the controling and monitoring functions for braking system. And output signal from the test bench and the feedback signal from the braking system are sent and receipt through the PLC, CAN and MVB cards, and brake command-level transmit by hardline coding. Meanwhile, based on the analysis of the hardware configuration of the system components, we determine the selection of system hardware and analysis of the sources of interference that may exist in actual use and anti-jamming measures.Test Bench software is fully analyzing functional needs of system through the use of use case diagrams, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams of UML modeling tools, completing overall design of the software system, including the system configuration module, self-test module, the test function modules, system maintenance module and the PLC module. The development of software program is based on Visual Studio 2010 platform using C # language under the.NET framework. PLC module is responsible for completing data collection and output of signal.Finally, the test bench gives some description about the hardware and software configuration in the actual operation, and then uses the field testing mode to test the functions of the braking system, and some experimental data obtained by analyzing the process, getting some experimental data. The test results are accurate and reliable, meeting the functional requirements of the test bench for braking system used in city rail vehicles.
