A wheel is the important part and safety component of the drive system, it has a vital influence on the driving safety and reliability of the car. Because of the complexity of the actual working environment and continuous action of cyclic loading,the fatigue durability of the wheel declines. According to scientific and statistical analysis, there are up to 80% destruction of the wheels own to fatigue damage. And long evaluation period and high evaluation costs are required due to the need of a dedicated fatigue testing machine for the wheel fatigue test. So the numerical analysis method of the wheel bending fatigue and radial fatigue was studied in this paper. It had important value of engineering application to predict and improve the fatigue life of wheels.Taking a passenger car alloy wheel as the study object, this paper constructed the finite element mechanics analysis model corresponding to bending fatigue test and radial fatigue test by software ANSYS Workbench. Then the specific stress and strain situation of the wheel was analyzed. The influence of centrifugal force and the bolt pretension on bending fatigue was analyzed during bending fatigue static analysis. A simplified tire model was constructed during the establishment of the finite element analysis model of radial fatigue. The radial load was applied directly to the bead seat in the form of radial equivalent distribution force, which solved the difficulties of convergence and nonlinear contact due to the complexity structure and material nonlinearity of the tire.The finite element static analysis results file was imported into Design Life module of dedicated fatigue analysis software NCODE to build fatigue life prediction analysis process. Then fatigue damage situation and fatigue life of bending fatigue and radial fatigue of the wheel was got based on the stress-controlled fatigue damage theory with the cycle ratio modified.The method of combining finite element analysis and fatigue calculation used in this paper simplified the entire process of CAE analysis.The simulation of wheel bending fatigue and radial fatigue can predict the location and fatigue life quickly and accurately, guide the development and design of the wheels effectively, realize the purpose of lowering development costs and accelerating the speed of development. Ithas important guiding significance and practical value to improve the design of car wheel.
