Gantry crane is a kind of bridge-type crane, which is a structure used to straddle an object or workplace, mainly used in the open storages, ports, wharves, hydropower stations and railway freight stations etc. There once was a MG30t-32m gantry crane in Dongxing Aluminum Plant of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., whose function is to hoist the finished containers of aluminum ingots to the trains. With the continuous expansion of production capacity and increase the intensity of crane operation, part of the bearing capacity of the crane has been unable to meet the requirements, and even some phenomena such as flexible crane appeared under varying degrees of structure, but also pose a threat to safety in production.the MG30t-32m gantry crane has been redesigned and optimized through making its bearing capacity strengthened and improved, which not only solves the problems like excessive displacement and stress concentration of the crane while bearing the load, but meets the safety requirements and guarantees reliability.Through analyzing and studying the work of revamping for cranes in China, the MG30t-32m gantry crane has been reinforced and capacity-increased. And the strain and stress values calculated by the static analysis for crane are to check the structural stiffness and strength, and then the dynamic analysis is done by using ANSYS to validate that if the project is rational.Practice has proved that the revamped gantry crane works effectively, which achieves the goal of saving the cost, reducing the duration of the project and prolonging the service life of the crane.
