With the quickly development of our national economy, tunnel construction is also playing more and more important role in our quickly traffic construction, and developing towards rapidity and precision. Drill jumbo is playing an extremely important role in the drilling blast method in tunnel construction of our society. This paper aims at the design of the drill jumbo used in small section of high altitude. The main research contents are as follows:First, based on the design requirements, overall design of drill jumbo is conducted and the main working mechanism is determined, including the propulsion system’s structure and the rock drill’s type and so on. After that, the technical parameters of the drill jumbo are determined.Second, the drill jumbo’s hydraulic system’s requirements are analyzed and the performance characteristics of different hydraulic circuits are compared. Basing on working condition of the product, which is in high altitude and small section,and considering the transportation convenience and drill jumbo’s energy-saving character, this paper adopts the load-sensitive system and conducts the calculation and type selection of the key componets.Third, using the simulation platform AMESim, this paper builds the simulation model of the rotation system. Based on the simulation results, the speed control performance of the load-sensitive hydraulic system’s swing circuit is verified. And multi-load simulation is conducted, results show that actuators’ pressure and flowrate match their property parameters, the rationality andfeasibility of the system,component selection and parameter setting are verified.In the end, using ANSYS Workbench, the statics simulation of drill arm’s model is conducted, and results show that the rigidity and intensity of the drill arm are qualified. Topology analysis of the drill arm is carried through to lighten the arm, and extra materials are wiped off. At last, the statics simulation of optimized drill arm is done and the drill arm’s property of before and after the optimization is comparaed, the drill arm’s weight is lightened by 13% and the goal of lightweight is achieved.
