Study And Application Of The Automatic Relay Protection Test System In ABB

Microcomputer relay protection testing device can fully meet the requirements to evaluate the performance of microcomputer protection, which has greatly improved the performance of relay protection system, and enhanced the reliability and stability of power system. Test requirements for the protection module, which is the core function of relay protection products, is more stringent. This topic is the enterprise project of ABB(China) medium voltage product technology center, based on the ATS(Automatic Test System) to test the relay protection module; design test scheme for new protect module, edit corresponding test cases and test eventually.ATS system is mainly used for application function module test, including evaluating the function performance and verifying functionalities. Function performance evaluating includes static accuracy, dynamic accuracy, dependency tests. Verifying the functionalities is to test the effectiveness of a function. Because ATS is a unique test system which is owned to the enterprise, it is necessary to explore and analyze the function of ATS and its software and hardware structure.Based on the study of ATS, this paper realized ATS test of arc protection module, line differential protection module, automatic switch onto fault module and voltage presence module, including set up the hardware test platform and edit test cases in ATS test editor. Every logic unit in the protection module is analyzed, test scheme is determined,and test cases is created based on ATS. The accuracy and validity of the function are verified in the test. At the same time, test cases are saved in ATS database, and can be used for the same module testing directly, which improve the efficiency of testing.On the other hand, in some exceptional test cases, the RTD(Resistance Temperature Detector) device is required to verify the accuracy or function of the protection module. At the end of this paper, the application of RTD in ATS system is introduced, and the testing process of the test case is demonstrated.All in all, the test of the protection modules and the development of RTD device not only complete the testing for test object, but also make a full application of ATS system.
