As a kind of important control component, the contactor is widely used in power grid and power plant. The contactor can be divided into vacuum and air type. With the increasing use of the contactor, the superiority of vacuum contactor with respect to air type contactor become more and more obvious. Early due to the limited conditions, the traditional design method is the repeated test of the product to achieve the purpose of optimizing and improving the product, almost no theory and data support. Therefore, it costs high, and the time is long, sometimes can not reach the desired results. With the method of theoretical analysis, finite element simulation analysis, optimization design and experimental verification, the electromagnetic mechanism was researched and optimizationed which is significant. Based on the model of the VCH-400A/12 kV type vacuum contactor, the electromagnetic mechanism of vacuum contactor was studied. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the technical parameters of the vacuum arc extinguishing chamber are given. Theoretical calculation of technology and structure parameters of electromagnetic iron core, coil, the opening spring, the contact spring. The 2D and 3D model of electromagnetic mechanism was established by using Solidworks software. After simplified model, the two and three-dimensional was imported into COMSOL through the technology of seamless connection. Then Simulation to magnetic field of electromagnetic mechanism. Get different clearance, ampere, excitation current of the electromagnetic suction force characteristic curve, and the magnetic field distribution.Secondly, dynamic characteristic analysis of electromagnetic mechanism was analyzed by using 3D Maxwell transient solver and the changes in the relationship between the closing speed, excitation current, armature displacement with time were got under different closing phase angel. The orthogonal experimental design method was used including seven variable factors: The ore radius, exciting current, coil and brake spring stiffness coefficient and contact spring stiffness coefficient, brake spring preload, a contact spring preload.,and building the orthogonal test table. The orthogonal experimental design method was adopted to seek the optimal combination in order to get the goal of optimizing pulling speed and releasing rate of vacuum contactor which as Sample data to make a vacuum contactor.Thirdly, According to the above data, making the vacuum contactor prototype, which is used to do the experiment including the mechanical characteristics test, the mechanical life test and the double coil control electromagnet temperature rise test. According to the comparison between experimental data and technical index to verify the correctness of theoretical analysis and the reliability of the prototype.
