With the rapid development of electrified railway, the reliability of the traction power supply system continues to increase. The fault caused by the catenary accounted for the major part of the whole traction power supply system. Catenary breakdown brings great influence to the society and economy, meanwhile, the random distribution of fault points also brings inconvenience to maintenance. So, the reliability analysis of catenary and mastery of the state change of catenary have important significance for the safe and reliable operation of the electrified railway. Based on the reliability and condition assessment of catenary, the main content of this paper is as follows.This paper firstly introduces the basic theory of reliability analysis, which contains the evaluation index and common method of reliability analysis. The FTA used in this paper is selected through the analysis and comparison of different methods of principle, and the form of the fault tree, qualitative and quantitative analysis is elaborated. Secondly, based on the basis of investigation and research, catenary fault development logic is analyzed. The contact system is divided into five parts to establish the contact network system fault tree. Then failure mode of OCS, which is also said minimum cut set, is calculated qualitatively. With failure rate of low events, the failure rate of the contact system, MTBF and other reliability index is get. After computer the Structure importance, probability importance and critical importance, appropriate maintenance measures are introduced aiming at the difference of the importance of bottom events.Finally the state evaluation three level index system of OCS is established. Considering the influence of subjective and objective, combination weights of AHP and entropy index method is calculated.
