Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has the excellence of compact structure, light weight, high power density, no rotor heats problem and simpler control system compared with the induction motor. Therefore PMSM is widely used in machinofacture, industrial robot, aerospace and electric traction. In recent 20 years, with the advent of high performance permanent magnet as well as the development of power electronics devices, autocontrol and microelectronic technique, drive system centering on PMSM is much accounted of at home and abroad. The study of PMSM drive system in China concentrates on low power. It can’t meet some occasional demands. So it is very important to research and develope multi-axes ganged PMSM drive system as well as prompt its application.First of all, this paper introduces the research status and develops future of PMSM drive system. According to vector coordinate conversion principle, the models of PMSM in the two-phase synchronous rotary coordinate ( dq 0) are deduced and obtained.Secondly, Details of the Vector Control(VC) of PMSM is presented in the paper, and the analysis of several current control strategies of VC theory applied to the PMSM control, which include the i d=0control, cos ? =1 control and the max torque/current control. Then, the application of DTC theory on PMSM is discussed.At last, the paper gives hardware circuits, soft flow, parameter design method of controller and the experimental data of the three-axes ganged PMSM drive system; the experimental result indicates that this drive system has achieved the anticipated target for its each performance.
