The reason why I choose "A Study on the Management of Business Department in Insurance Companies" as my research topic is that business department, as the ground sales unit for individual insurance of the insurance company, is not only the core for managing insurance business, but also the source of competition preponderance in the future competitive market. Making business department stronger is the foundation for the insurance company constructing its core competitiveness in business and the key for its development. The management result of business department is in direct connection with every management index of individual insurance, while individual insurance is the greatest inline value of collective insurance (including banking insurance, group insurance). Therefore, studying this topic is of great market value for both the insurance company and the individual.This paper takes the transition and status quo of business department in the insurance company as main line. Firstly, this paper makes a deep analysis on business department of insurance companies in China, especially its transition and status quo by using institutional economics and information economics, and a thorough analysis on the importance of business department management to the development of individual insurance in insurance companies by using the relevant research results. Secondly, this paper makes a study on how to manage business department by using the relevant companies’management experience and theories, that is, to find out the issues in the development of business department and set forth some suggestions by means of comparison and analysis. Thirdly, this paper makes a key study on the management structure of business department to analyze the difficulty in increasing staff for business department and find out solutions through mathematical economics and econometrics. Finally, this paper, based on the previous study, makes a study on the barriers in the development of business department through comparison and analysis; conducts a comprehensive research on the scale, structure, industry distribution and development trend of business department by means of mathematical economics and econometrics and sets forth policy suggestions to promote the development of business department in insurance companies.This paper is characterized by high system, specialization and operation for its covering the fundamental specialized operational system of business department, clearly defining the position and responsibilities of business department, and dealing -with the fundamental issues such as "what to do" and "How to do" of sales managers, and provides specialized management tools and guides for business department.
