Research On Evaluation Of Urban Competitiveness In Shandong Province

The emergence of city is a sign of people civilization,and it is also a senior form of humansocial life.Since the21st century, the international competition is increasingly fierce.Competition for resources and talents is in fact the competition between cities.City is like acayyier of regional politics,economic, society, culture and so on.With the development ofglobalization, the futher integration of the world economy as well as the region,how to promotethe development and the spatial structure evolution of city is a problem demanding promptsolution all over the world. The estimate and research of city comprehensive competitivenessprovide a reliable standard of the orientation and future direction of development for the region.This paper first discusses the background and significance of urban competitiveness andmakes a comment of the domestic and foreign research contents and methods.In reference todomestic and foreign scholars on the basis of research achievements,this paper builids a set ofindex system of city competitiveness for the17cities in Shandong province as the researchobject.This indicator system includes twenty-nine indexs covering urban size,the city’s economicdevelopment level,infrastructure,scientific and technological culture,urban openinglevel,industrial structure and benefit,and eco-environmental quality. At last it uses the greycorrelation analysis method to find out the principal influence factors of the17cities’ urbancompetitiveness in Shandong provience.The analysis results show that competitiveness rankings of Qingdao are the first in the fiveyears. Jinan’s competitiveness score comes next and the third is Yantai.The scores ofZibo,Weihai,Weifang,Dongying and Jining are stable.The scores ofLinyi,Dezhou,Binzhou,Zaozhuang,Taian,Rizhao,Laiwu,Liaocheng and Heze re ranking later andthey are negative. Some approaches proposed to enhance the urban competitiveness.
