Since China’s reform and opening-up, Yunnan has achieved rapid development on foreign trade. But in terms of both the trade volume and the incentive of foreign trade to GDP, there is a huge gap between Yunnan and the nation. Thus Yunnan is facing the urgent task to achieve rapid development of trade. Agricultural products, ranked NO.1with the exports volume in the western china, play an important role in the promotion of trade in Yunnan. In this context, the study on the exports of Yunnan agricultural products is of great significance to accelerate the trade development.Based on the theories of comparative advantage, factor endowment and international competitive capacity, the paper studies the trade performance, trade structure and international competitiveness of Yunnan agricultural products exports by means of comparative analysis and empirical research, from which the corresponding conclusions and policy suggestions will be put forward.The paper mainly includes five parts. The first one introduces the study context, based theories, research contents, methods and aims. The second one summarily presents the performance of Yunnan agricultural products exports, including the development achievements, opportunities and challenges. The third one analyzes the export products structure, regional structure, trade structure, enterprise structure, and the market structure, which further disclose the present problems such as imbalance of commodities structure and highly concentrated markets that Yunnan is facing on promoting trade of agricultural products. The forth one empirically analyzes the international competitiveness of Yunnan’s agricultural products, pointing out that the exports of Yunnan’s agricultural products, with highly international competitiveness on the whole, conform to comparative advantages and resource endowment. In the last part of the paper, some trade promotion measures are put forward, which mainly include further optimizing the structure of export products, expanding exports scale of Yunnan agricultural products in potential markets like the United States and South Asia, developing human resources in trade area, etc.
