Study On Economic Spatial Differentiation Of Huaihe River Basin

The study of regional spatial economic differentiation has been a hot topic discussed by many scholars, but as a special area of the carrier, the study of basin economic differentiation will have special significance. In this paper, the Huaihe River Basin is for the study at the county level from1990to2010, using a variety of methods for economic spatial differentiation from three aspects,which are pattern, evolution and mechanisms of the economic spatial differentiation of the Huaihe River Basin.Firstly,by using standard deviation, spatial Gini coefficient, spatial differentiation index and Theil index, we analyze the different economic development of Huaihe River valley ranged from1990to2010. Then we can get the overall trend of spatial difference of Huaihe River valley.After that, we should make sure of the decomposition of Theil index, and analyze the different factor.In the end, we can make the conclusion that economic differences widening in Huaihe River valley and the degree of divergence of regional economic development continue to increase.Again by using spatial econometric analysis which mainly using or calculating the global space autocorrelation index, local spatial autocorrelation indices, Getis-Ord, relative development rate (NICH index), trend surface analysis and other related metrics in Huaihe River valley, we can divide the Huaihe River valley into four different types of area, that is the high concentration areas, the low concentration area, the low diffusion region and the high diffusion region. And we can also find that the distribution of the global economic space shows a trend of concentration, which is more and more significantly, and relatively stable which is forming the special spatial pattern that the northwest, southeast are the main polarization zone of the area. The northwest and southeast of Huaihe River valley have always been the economic center of the area, and the middle of Huaihe River valley is the area of lower development than others. The importance of the northwest and the fluctuations of southeast on economic center is increasing.Finally, by using the labor, capital, industrialization, expenditure, population density, urbanization rate, transport accessibility and regional policy priority which all are the factors that affects the economic spatial differentiation and the best fit of the spatial error model (SEM) and geographically Weighted regression (GWR),and analyzing the progress of economic space,we find that the contribution and the degree of influence of different factors in the same area or the same factor in different area or in different period are different. The result of this studying can provide the different levels of government along Huaihe River valley the appropriate basis in the policy making.
