Connectivity has been one of the most popular words in China’s diplomacy since2013.It is included in China’s major diplomatic events and strategies such as2014APECSummit and ‘Belt and Road’ strategy.It is the ASEAN that put forward connectivity first. China then took the banner topromote connectivity through the APEC platform. Inspired by connectivity come up byASEAN, China furthurly elevated it to the core of its foreign strategy. By connectingamong neighboring countries, China aims not only to deepen its reform and openningup policy, but to promote the economic integration of Asia and thus drive jointdevelopment of the whole region. More importantly, China’s strategic space will begreatly expanded if there is a more connected Asia.After combing through the development process of connectivity, this article analyzesthe specific meaning of connectivity, and then elaborates the relation betweenconnectivity and China’s foreign strategy from the perspective of international politics,ending with discussing challenges that connectivity faces. As regard with the domesticsignificance of connectivity, it is interspersed concisely in Chapter Two and Three.The conclusion is that connectivity is the core of China’s foreign strategy. After learningand developing connectivity from the platform of APEC, China initiated the Belt andRoad strategy based on it. While deepening China’s opening-up and driving the wholeAsia developing together, It will aslo define China’s position clearly as an Asian majorand symbolize the direction turning of China’s foreign policy towards proactiveness andinitiativeness.
