Transport as a key factor to communicate region and city,it plays an important role in the process of Regional urban pattern formate and the comprehensive strength enhance.High quality of the transport infrastructure investment is a key factor in the economic growth.Convenient road traffic,efficient airports and important transport hubs provided a good external environment for regional development, and then promote economic development.The development level of the transport network will bring varying degree of impacts in the interaction of region spaces,and ultimately change the potential of socio-economic development and the advantages of economic location.The traffic dominance is the socio-economic level and condition that regional transport infrastructure network supports.it is also an important indiactor that to measure the development status of transport network.Under normal circumstances,if the traffic dominance be higher,the conditions of economic development will be more excellent and the potential of development will be greater.Yangtze River Delta is one of the most powerful region in the economic strength,but also in comprehensive strength in China.Yangtze River Delta has formed multiple modes of integrated transport system that the highway and railway take a great part in passenger and the highway and water transport take a great part in freight.By the end of 2012,the Yangtze River Delta road traffic mileage has reached 280209 km,railway mileage has reached 4570 km,inland waterway mileage has reached 36104 km,has formed a more efficient transportation network.In this paper,the research subject is the 107 counties and county-level cities in Yangtze River Delta.With Arc Gis spatial analyst technical support,the traffic dominance includes road network density,the impact of the transport facilities,the radiation levels of transport hub.With spss software support to evaluate 107 counties’ comprehensive strength.By using spearman rank correlation to analysis the correlation that between the traffic dominance and counties’ comprehensive strength.Finally,according to the coupled index to divide the 107 counties,and reveal the extent of the counties’ comprehensive strength and the traffic dominance.By calculating the traffic dominance,the 107 counties can be divided into four types,region I is surrounded by the region II and region III of traffic dominance,to form a ring structure of traffic dominance,the region IV of traffic dominance mainly located in north of Jiangsu and southwest of Zhejiang.these areas some located in inland,some located in coastal areas.they are all inadequate of transportation infrastructure and poor accessibility.Generally speaking,the traffic dominance of Yangtze River Delta shows the trend that with shanghai as the center and gradually decreasing in the direction of north and south,this also reflects the features of productivity space layout at a certain extent.The higher comprehensive strength relative the higher economic development in Yangtze River Delta 107 counties.the high values of comprehensive strength areas are in south of Jiangsu and northeast of Zhejiang.Basicly with shanghai as the center outward radiation showing a grading structure.the lower values of comprehensive strength areas are in the north of Jiangsu ang west and eastsouth of Zhejiang.At the same time,coastal areas’ comperhensive strength values are higher than the inland counties,the counties which are closer to the cities,its comprehensive strength values are high than the counties which are far away from cities.these counties are mainly effected by the cities.According to the level of urban development and the coupled index of the transport dominance.the 107 counties of Yangtze River Delta can be divided into three types,such as Low match type,Basic match type and High match type.Coupling index reflects the ability of transportation support,the higher urban development relative the higher economic development and the transport demand.Conversely,low levels of urban development leads to the smaller regional transport.Therefore,that shows the economically developed areas relatively an inadequate transportation.Acorrding to the Low match type,Basic match type and High match type three types,this paper proposes the corresponding development ideas.For low match type counties,its transportation infrastructure has been relatively well,we should optimize the industrial structure,develop high-end servives,reduce low-level logistics needs,to enhance counties’ economic level.For basic match type counties,we need to improve its traffic conditions and to attract investment,improve the level of industrialization further,in order to achieve a virtuous cycle of counties’ development.For high match type counties,the main task is to strengthen its transportation infrastructure,improve counties’ development conditions,by improving the regional environment to promote the improvement of counties’ development.
