Energy consumption has grown into one of the leading indicators for the comprehensive development of a country or a region. Based on the quantitative analysis towards economic growth, energy consumption and the structural relationship between the two, as well as the detailed observation of the different cases among the eight economic zones in China, this thesis tries to provide with illumination for the approach of energy development strategies, the in-depth development of regional economics and the balance of energies in different regions. This thesis established a Vector auto-regressive model and impulse response function by introducing energy consumption as a constraint condition into the production function, so that to make an analysis of the relationship between the amount of energy consumption and economic growth. It is found that there is a long-term causal relationship between the two terms, while the increase of absolute quantity towards energy consumption is never the top priority for economic growth, but to improve the energy utilization rate and optimize the structure of energy consumption.Besides, this thesis is also engaged in case studies of the eight economic zones by factor analysis and cluster analysis, which shows that in different regions, the economic development and energy consumption situations differs as well, but these differences are not completely corresponding. The establishment of the panel data model has succeeded in the quantization of the relationship between the regional energy consumption and economic growth. If ranks this connection of the eight economic zones lead by the strongest one, they are the northeast economic zone, southwest economic zone, economic zone in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, the eastern coastal economic zone, coastal economic zone in the south, the northern coastal economic zone, economic zone in the middle reach of Yangtze river and northwest China economic zone. Then this thesis goes on with a further analysis of the regional differences and tries to explore the root cause for the differences, so that to provide a reference for the making of relevant policies based on its own characteristics.
