In recent years, the residents’ consumption remains in the doldrums, restricting economic development to sustainable and healthy stage. With the deepening of economic globalization, the current trade friction is increasing, export is more and more difficult, and the mode of depending on government investment to stimulate economic growth is not sustainable, stimulating consumption is the only way to achieve economic transformation. An important cause of inadequate consumption demand is the lag of urbanization, this paper takes the development of urbanization impact on residents’ consumption demand as the center topic, analysis urbanization how to influence the residents’ consumption and the degree of influence, in based on the international experience of urbanization development, trying to give some recommendations to promoting the urbanization healthy.This paper has six parts, the content is introduced as follows:The first part of this paper mainly expounds the research background and the research significance, reviews the literature of the influence of urbanization on residents’ consumption in domestic and foreign, for later chapters lay a solid theoretical foundation.The second part analysis the mode of urbanization impact on residents’ consumption demand in theory, clarify that urbanization development is beneficial to increase the income of residents, to change the consumption concept of residents, to the improvement of residents’ consumption environment. And establish a consumption model include of urbanization factors, the result shows that the development of urbanization is an important factor affecting the residents’ consumption demand.The third part describes the present situation of the development of urbanization and consumption demand, to the present situation of urbanization, this paper shows that urbanization is lag behind industrialization, the development of urbanization is regional imbalance, the government plays the leading role to promoting the urbanization and the gap between urban and rural areas is large and so on. To present consumption demand of residents, this paper compares the urban residents and rural residents from the three aspects of consumption level, consumption rate and consumption structure, explains the huge gap between urban consumption and rural consumption. In view of the present situation, this paper elaborates the lag of urbanization of influence on residents’ consumption demand.The fourth part analyzes the impact of urbanization on the consumption demand of residents from the perspective of empirical method, through the way of constructing cross terms to verify the effect way of urbanization development on the residents’ consumption demand, using the methods of Econometrics include cointegration analysis and impulse response analysis obtain the conclusion that the development of urbanization can promote residents’ consumption demand.The fifth part mainly introduces the urbanization development characteristic of the developed countries include America, British and Japan, summarizes the experience about the development of urbanization of these three countries, in order to provide the reference for our country to promote urbanization.The sixth part is the last chapter of this paper, and on the basis of previous chapters conclude: residents’ consumption demand is low, and the urbanization contributes to the residents’ consumption demand expansion. Therefore, based on the international experience and the present situation analysis of the development of urbanization, put forward to some policy recommendations about promoting urbanization, promote the growth of residents’ consumption.
