Discussion On The Present Situations And Countermeasures Of Rose Industry In Zhengzhou City

Rose (R.chinensis) has a long history of cultivation, originates in China, isknown as the "Queen of Flowers". It is one of the four largest fresh cut flowers (rose,chrysanthemum, carnation, gladiolus), it was chosen as the city flower of many citiesat home and abroad, it became the city flower of Zhengzhou in1983.This article investigated the current situation and problems of the development ofrose industry, summed up the process of rose industry in Zhengzhou, pointed out theproblems existing in industrialization, analyzed the main reasons by way of thequestionnaire, interview, literature and investigation methods.Zhengzhou has won great development in rose industrialization. For example, ithas1200varieties, its area is about550000hm2, and also has held20exhibitions.However, the development is limited. It showed that the current situation andproblems were as follow: the lack of special varieties, propaganda, technicalpersonnel, technological support, the production of cut flower, cultural atmosphere,and the cultivation technology needs to be improved.Based on these, the basic strategies of development of Zhengzhou rose industrywere put forward: to update the concept of development, to speed up the constructionof seedlings base, to enhance the rose flower show level, to strengthen the scientificresearch and technology, to develop flower market, and so on.
