Corn is one of the three major corps in our country, but the development of cornharvest mechanization is relatively slow, so it is more important to develop the cornharvest machine. As the bearing body of corn harvester, chassis frame need not onlyfix other parts but also withstand various loads in the running process of the harvester,so the performance of frame structure is directly related to the reliability and safety ofthe whole machine. With the continuous development of the finite element theory andcomputer technology, finite element method is also more widely used in various fields.Using finite element technology to analyze the performance of frame structure hasgreat significance to improve properties of the vehicle, reduce the design andmanufacturing cost and enhance market competitiveness.This paper first analyzed the present situation of various types of corn harvesterin domestic and foreign. Then the self-propelled combine harvester was taken as aresearch subject, and the structure and working principle for the machine and keycomponents were analyzed and researched.On this basis, this paper mainly studied the finite element stress analysis, testingresearch, structural optimization and modal analysis for the chassis frame of corncombine harvester. In the first place, based on the actual structure of frame, thegeometric model of chassis frame was built in analysis software directly, and the finiteelement model was achieved by meshing of solid element. Secondly, the stresses in no-loaded and full-loaded conditions of the frame were getting by restraining boundaryconditions, loading and solving. Then through conducting the strength test on theframe and comparing the experimental data with analysis data, it verified that the finiteelement analysis method and results were correct. Moreover, on the basis of the finiteelement stress analysis of the frame, size optimization design was carried out. Afterchecking it showed that the optimized structure’s volume had decreased and it satisfiedthe frame material yield limit. Finally, modal analysis for the optimized frame was carried out, and the natural frequency and vibration mode of the first eight-order wereobtained by calculating. Though analyzing the vibration characteristics, it proves thatthe structure can avoid the hazards that may be caused by resonance.The results of the research show that, the simulation analysis and optimizationdesign on the chassis frame by finite element method can provide a theoreticalreference for the design and improvement of the frame, and it has good practical valueand realistic significance.
