Research On Configuration Of Foliage Flower Border In Pearl River Delta

The flower border originated from the Western. It gradually became the focus in our garden community since it was introduced into China because of its abundant plant material, natural landscape effects and special seasonal aspect change. Rich foliage plant resources in Pearl River Delta region provided a reliable guarantee for the promotion and application of the foliage flower border.This thesis extensively investigated the foliage plants which was widely used in the Pearl River Delta region, and established the evaluation system of flower border foliage plants. And also it analyzed three flower border transects with high scores after evaluating20ornamental flower borders transects by Scenic Beauty Estimation. The configuration rules of the foliage flower border were summed up. The conclusions of this thesis were as follows:(1) There were about144species of flower border foliage plants in the Pearl River Delta region. Among them, there were121species of color-leafed plants which belong to93genera and37families,23species of non-color leafed plants which belong to22genera and8families.(2) The method of analytic hierarchy process was used to build the selection system of flower border foliage plants. Ornamental characters occupied a major position, followed by safety, ecological effects and the adaptability. Eight indicators such as charm, gesture, texture, leaf color, leaf color change among seasons, leaf shape, toxicity, sterilization or the ability to absorb harmful gases had the heavier weighting, the other10indicators followed.(3) Coleus hybridus, Chlorophytum comonsum ’Variegatum’, Hymenocallis americana, Nandina domestica and other31species of foliage plants were worth promoting the usage of foliage flower border in the Pearl River Delta region.(4) There were many elements influencing the merits and demerits of foliage flower border landscape. Results indicated that7elements were more important such as the balance stability, landscape sketch, appropriate scale, focus, plant species, empty hole and bare soil and harmony color.(5) The configuration of foliage flower border contained five elements:topic, plant configuration, color matching, facade landscape and landscape sketch.
