Banana:Fruit of the genus Musa (family Musaceae), is a famous fruit in tropical and subtropical areas all over the world. Its output ranks fourth in the world, following the output of the apple, the citrus and the pear. And the sale of banana is the largest fruit worldwide. Stalks of bananas are the main byproduct after harvesting. Due to stalk’s strong body and high moisture content, they tend to be left to decay or discarded in the field, causing seriously waste of resource and environmental pollution. The fiber of banana’s stalk falls under the bran, a new kind of naturally plant fiber, which contains in the bast of banana trees. The fiber of banana’s stalk is easy to distort, to absorb moisture and to dye. It also is breathable and weighs lighter. As a result, it is feasible to mingling the fiber with other fibers to produce first-class suits, shirts, ties and various decorations. The research and utilization of the fiber of banana’s stalk could lesson the shortage of hemp in China.(1) For the fiber of banana’s stalk is weak and fragile and the method of its extraction at home is immature, the current processing equipment is of low productivity, low extraction rate and low purity rate. To solve the problems above, this paper designs a roller fiber extraction machine.(2) To investigate the structure, the nature of the stalk of banana, the current research standard of fiber extraction and the utilization situation of the fiber. To investigate the moisture rate, the mechanical property and the frictional behavior of metal materials.(3) To put forward three plans of extracting fiber of banana’s stalk and design three corresponding machine combining current rules of machinery extraction of other hemp. To select the best plan of the three through comparison and analysis and design the technical parameter of one-time feeding reverse-type machine of banana’s stalk extraction. To describe its working rules in detail and figure out a reasonable transmission system.(4)To analyze and determine the corresponding rolling device, clamping device,their working process and their structure parameter.(5) To analyze the working rules of the roguing device and design its main structure. To set the extraction rate of banana stalk’s and the impurity rate of the fiber of banana’s stalk as the experimental index. To make the rotation rate of the roguing knife roller, numbers of roguing knife and the arc length of the fixed knife the factors influencing those index. To analyze the related factors influencing the experimental index through single factor experience by SPSS19.0and establish the realm of experimental index. To establish the importance of every factor to the experimental index and the optimal combination through orthogonal experiment.(6) The sample test results showed as below:the output was206.6kg/h, the passing rate of fiber rubbing objects was90.4%, the impurity rate was16.2%, and the energy consumption was22.3kW·h/100kg. The machine meets the agronomic production and raw material standards of related industries. This research could serve as a model to the later design of similar machines and promotes the development of banana industries in the banana planting areas in south of China.
