In recent years, Fur-bearing is showing unprecedented scale farming, particularly fox, raccoon, et al. China has become the world acknowledged big fur producer, but there are still some problems, such as the poor quality of skin, small size of skin, lack of competitiveness. So increasing the quality of fox and raccoon is important measure to improve the international competitiveness. Through the orthogonal experimental design with different does grouping Astragalus membranaceus, Ligustri lucidi fructus, Glycyrrhiza, Lycii fructus, Cuscuta chinensis, and so on, we screen out the best formula which could increase the quality of fur-bearing animal. We choose orthogonal table L12(211) conduct qualitative screening with the ratio of secondary follicles and primary follicles as evaluation index. It turned out that six herbs could increase the number of secondary follicles of breast mice, including Astragalus membranaceus, Ligustri lucidi fructus, Polygonum multiflorum, Cuscuta chinensis, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Angelica dahurica. The order from high to low is Astragalus, Angelica dahurica, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Cuscuta chinensis, Ligustri lucidi fructus, Polygonum multiflorum. We choose orthogonal table L18(37) conduct quantify screening with the dermal thickness of breast mice as evaluation index. The six herbs selected by qualitative screening were divided into three doses which were high dose, middle does and low dose. The result showed that the effect of Chinese herbal prescription increasing the dermal thickness of breast mice was best when the proportion is30:25:25:15:15:12of Astragalus membranaceus, Ligustri lucidi fructus, Polygonum multiflorum, Cuscuta chinensis, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Angelica dahurica. Feeding the mice with Chinese herbal prescription selected by qualitative screening and quantify screening, we measured the density of TXB2and ET in serum of mice and found that Chinese herbal prescription group is higher than the density of blank control group (P<0.05). We evaluated the safety of Chinese herbal prescription through acute toxicity test and long term toxicity test. In the acute toxicity test, we reckoned the LD50is4000mg/kg. Long term toxicity test indicated that Chinese herbal prescription does not have toxic effect for a long time. We fed the raccoon dog with Chinese herbal prescription, then we found that the density of IgG and IgM and IgA in serum of the raccoon dog was notably increase (P<0.05) and the density reached the peak at fourteenth, and the density started to decline at twenty-first. The density of C3and C4in serum of the raccoon dog was notably increase (P<0.05) and the density reached the peak at fourteenth. The concentration of WBC and RBC and LY in serum of the raccoon dog was notably increase (P<0.05or P<0.01) and the density reached the peak at twenty-first. The concentration of T-AOC and GSH-Px had a tendency to increase, but no significant difference (P<0.05). The concentration of SOD increased and the concentration of MDA reduced, the difference was remarkable (P<0.05).The skin length and the length of aciulum and fluff in raccoon dog was remarkably increased (P<0.05).The results shows that Chinese herbal prescription could enhance obviously oxidation resistance and immunity of the raccoon dog.In conclusion, Chinese herbal prescription could be as feed additives of the raccoon dog to improve the quality of fur which is made up of Astragalus membranaceus, Ligustri lucidi fructus, Polygonum multiflorum, Cuscuta chinensis, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Angelica dahurica according to the proportion of30:25:25:15:15:12.
