| According to "Veterinary Pharmacopoeia of PRC. " and a great deal of references on Endometritis of Dairy Catties .twelve kinds of Chinese herbs usually used to treat endometritis of cows were chosen ,which are Rhizoma Coptidis, Cortex Phellodendri, Rhizoma Coptidis , Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei, Radix Sophorae Flavescentis, Folium Artemisiae Argyi, Herba Leonuri, Fructus Cnidii, Herba Epimedii, Radix angelicae Sinensis and rhizome chuanxiong. Their extracting processes were optimized by orthogonal test. Five herb compounds were made on the base of some classic prescriptions. Thirty composite medicine of Chinese herbs and Western Veterinary Medicines were made by filling two kinds of common western veterinary medicines with the former extracts and five compounds.Their antibacterial activities to the main pathogens causing endometritis of cows- the golden staphylococcus, the Bacillus subtilis and the colon bacillus were determined through antibiotic test in vitro.The results showed that most of the extracts have inhibition to the three kinds of pathogenin, and different extracts have different inhibition to the same kind of pathogenin, while, the same extracts have different inhibition to the different kinds of pathogenin. Among them, the extracts of 7~# and 8~# showed obvious antibiotic activity against three bacteria.The herb compounds have different inhibition to the test pathogens. Preferentially consider the golden staphylococcus, the three compounds I , II and IVwhich have best effect were chosen as the object of further study.
