In this research, we had system study of plant growth, fruit characteristic, and fruit production of21clones and one seedling varieties of Illicium verum which preserved in germplasm gene pool clone area in Paiyangshan forest camp, and evaluated the growth, advantages and disadvantages of fruit comprehensively. The purpose was to providing the basis for subsequent anise genetic improvement and new variety breeding in Guangxi. The results showed that:(1) Diameter at breast height, tree height, crown breadth, fruit length difference of21clones and one seedling varieties was very significant different. The maximum diameter at breast height was number105(10.0cm), and the minimum was number122(4.6cm); the maximum tree height was number21(6.6m), and the minimum was number69(3.3m); the largest crown was3.5m (number24), and the minimum was2.0m (number69). The fruit length of number133clones was longest (26.3cm), followed by number79(22.4cm), minimum was number85(11.2cm).The branches Angle of the21clones and one seedling varieties were mostly between45°~60°, belong to half open type.(2) The stalk length, fruit size, fruit thickness, ratio of fruit width and thickness, per fresh weight of21clones and one seedling varieties were very significantly different. Minimum peduncle length was number106(2.3cm), the maximum was number122(5.7cm), followed by number74(4.2cm), seedling varieties and other clones were less than4.0cm. The number of fruit angle between were7.6~9.1, the normal development rate of fruit angle were between49.5%and90.7%, and the maximum was number85(90.7%), followed by number87(79.5%), the minimum was number18(49.5%).The maximum single fruit fresh weight was11.2g/fruit (number75), the single fruit fresh weight larger than7.0g/fruit were NO.75, NO.69, NO.105three clones. The minimum of number of kilograms of fresh fruit was89.0/kg is (NO.75), followed by107.6/kg (NO.69),12clones’ fresh fruit number of kilograms of were less than200/kg, meet the champion tree selection standard. (3) The correlation analysis results showed that, only the crown is significantly negative correlation with fruit diameter, and significantly negative correlation with the angle number of fruit. Peduncle length was very significant positive correlated with yield of fresh fruit and dried fruit. Fruit diameter was very significantly related to fruit thickness and single fruit weight positively, significant correlated with fruit angle number. Fruit thickness was extremely significant positive correlated with number fruit of angle and single fruit fresh weight.(4) Average diameter at breast, crown, length of fruit branches of soft branches type were not much difference with hard branch type. Branches of soft branches type more opened than hard branches types. Fruit production per plant of soft branches type was17.5%higher than the hard branch type.(5) Fruit yield of21clones and one seedling varieties in the early were very significant difference, the biggest average individual fruit yield was NO.74(4385.1g/plant), followed by72(3797.4g/plant).(6)6principal components were extracted, they comprehensive reflected variation information of indexes such as the plant growth, fruit size and weight, and preliminary descriped that the basic index of plant growth, fruit size, fruit weight etc. were the main index in the evaluation of anise different clones.
