This paper discussed the difference in cost structure, output structure, cost and revenue, production efficiency and factor intensity of apple production under dwarf rootstock intensivecultivation and vigorous rootstock cultivation. The results showed that(1)variable capitalinput of dwarf rootstock orchard is higher than vigorous rootstock cultivation for15.73%,reducing labor input for32.90%and all input for9.55%.(2)in addition, yield level, qualitylevel and price level of dwarf rootstock intensive cultivation were all better than that ofvigorous rootstock cultivation. Good dwarf rootstock orchards’ yield reached65250kg/hm2,the output value396700yuan/hm2and the average price6.08yuan/kg, which were higherthan that of good vigorous rootstock cultivation for12.99%,39.96%,23.58%,respectively.(3)rate of return of the dwarf rootstock-cultivated apple production was wellabove that of the vigorous rootstock-cultivated: The variable cost of material yield of threedifferent levels (good, medium and bad) of dwarf rootstock-cultivated orchards was also wellabove that of vigorous rootstock-cultivated ones for14.96%,16.87%and3.99%, respectively; The Variable cost yield of dwarf rootstock-cultivated was higher than that of vigorousrootstock-cultivated orchards for61.30%,71.94%and67.71%, respectively.(4)dwarfrootstock-cultivated orchards performed better than the vigorous rootstock-cultivated ones inlabor productivity, capital productivity, land productivity, and both average and totalproductivity, which denoted that the efficiency of conversion and output of the entireproduction system under dwarf rootstock cultivation was higher that of vigorous rootstockcultivation.(5)the relative factor intensity of intensive cultivation is capital, labor and land, respectively, and that of vigorous cultivation is labor, capital and land, respectively. The overall economic benefits of dwarf rootstock intensive cultivation is higher than that of vigorous cultivation. This paper also studied the cost structure and various economic indicators of apple dwarfrootstock’s intensive cultivation, compared it with vigorous rootstock cultivation by usingtechnical and economic analysis method. It turns out that in the sample area,20years of a lifecycle of internal rate of return is49.12%, dynamic investment pay-back period is5.39years,the cumulative net present value is740000yuan/hm2by adopting the dwarf rootstock’s intensive cultivation techniques. The economic benefits were more significant than vigorousrootstock cultivation in apple orchard at the same condition. The input-output structure, cash flow and investment recovery period of the appleexperts’ compound orchard in Fengxiang County was analyzed in this paper. And aftercomparing with the orchards of farmers, the results show that: the accumulated net income ofthe apple experts’ compound orchard in a20-year life circle is2.6times than that of farmers;its ratio of input-output (3.34) is higher than that (2.69) of local famers; its internal return rate(48.54%) is slightly lower than that (49.12%) of local farmers; its payback period ofinvestment is shorter than that of farmers for3months.To analyze using knowledge of ecology economics and sociology, we can draw theconclusion that: apple dwarf rootstock intensive cultivation plays an important role inmaintaining ecosystem stability, improving the conditions of agricultural production, increasing farmers income, as well as improving the life quality of farmers. Finally, based on the results above, some suggestions were made, including: thegovernment should increase the science and technology promotion and service efforts andencourage farmers to actively adopt dwarf rootstock intensive cultivation technology; it’snecessary to suit measures to local conditions and improve fertilization technology; todevelop supporting technologies.
