Blueberry belongs to the perennial shrub plants of the genus ericaceaecranberries and is a kind of important small berries fruit tree. Eating blueberry fruitsoften can prevent aging of cranial nerve, soften blood vessels, improve eyesight andenhance the effect of the body’s immune ability. Soil conditions of blueberry growth, however, are extremely strict. It restricted blueberry transplant and commercializedcultivation. Furfural residue was used to improve soil conditions for blueberrycultivation in our experiment. Difficulty of seedling breeding is another importantbottleneck of commercial cultivation. This paper researched the biologicalcharacteristics of blueberry and cutting propagation technique, in order to providesome references for commercialization of blueberry cultivation. The main results were as follows:1. Furfural residue reduced soil pH value to4.5. Furfural residue combining thecontent of grass carbons, saw dust and organic fertilizer can increase the content ofsoil available N, P, K and microorganism of N, C. when the proportion of furfuralresidue was41.2%, transplanting survival rate of blueberry is most obvious. Thetransplanting survival rate of two and six years blueberry was95.8%and96.0%respectively. Our experiment proved that using furfural residue improved soil forblueberry cultivation is completely feasible. Our paper can enrich the soilimprovement for blueberry cultivation of technology theory.2. The blueberries that be transplanted in Siping grow in good condition. In thesecond year, the blueberry tree bear normally fruit and anthocyanins content in fruitconform to the normal standard. Flower abortive rate of blueberry is reduced to below4%and yield per plant attains530g/plant. This suggests that the blueberries that betransplanted in Siping can greatly adapt to the soil and climate conditions of Siping.3. Cuttings propagated of blueberries are feasible in Siping area. The bestsubstrate for softwood cutting is the sphagnum, however the turfy soil+perlite (1:1) as the substrate also is feasible in order to save cost. The cuttings were soaked morethan2h using200mg/L rooting powder ABT1or ABT6solution and this cansignificantly improve the cuttings root rate, strengthen comprehensive quality of root. The best time of cutting propagation is the end of June to mid-July.
