The pasture(alfalfa) was largely planted in small plots terraced fields or hillland in northwestern gansu province in our country, mostly harvested by labour, inaddition to this, only a small part of cooperative and big farmers using knapsackmower, when harvesting dense and frondent alfalfa, it was difficult to be separated,smoothly cut and laid. More seriously, the engine body owned big vibration anddirectly contacted with the human body, it was not safe. As the harvested pasture cannot be compressed in time and using the natural air method to dry, it leaded to lots ofnutrients loss and seriously hindered the development of animal husbandry in ourcountry. Aimed at the reality of pasture harvesting problem, combined with lowingstubble height, neatly cutting, few recutting times, high flattening ratio and smallbroken grass loss rate, a kind of walking mountainous region mower crusher wasdesigned. The follow contents were deeply researched.⑴Combined with planting biological characteristics and harvesting agronomicrequirements of mountain alfalfa, a sort of hollow flattening roller was designed,which consisted of breadth axis, connecting plate, seamless steel tube and herringbonesteel tooth. Therefore, the flattening roller weight was reduced. In addition,asymmetric tooth profile distribution structure enhanced outputting strength, feedingperformance, flattening uniformity of alfalfa and the cutter dynamic balance. Itbasically met the quality requirements of alfalfa product.⑵In order to design a mower crusher which can be suitable for the hillsideoperation and meet the requirements of spending low power,owning small turningradius, having strong imitating performance, working lightly, possessing simple andcompact structure, a new type of transmission system of walking mountainous regionmower crusher was presented and developed. On the one hand, the power outputtingshaft of mini-tiller was directly connected with transmission shaft of cutter throughtthe coupling, the off-center slider crank mechanism drove the horizontal header torealize the alfalfa cutting function; on the other hand, the transmission transferred thepower to the reel system and the gap automatically regulating system of flattening rollers by the bevel gear, steering shaft and steering shaft sprocket. The two systemswere composed by automatic tension sprocket and double chain wheel of upper andlower crushers. It realized the automatic regulation and the relative motion of twoflattening roller, the power was passed to reel device and achieved forage feedingfunction, it achieved the function that dialing in pasture before cutting, supportingcutting, flattening after cutting, transporting and collecting, met the whole alfalfaharvesting process.⑶In order to preferably relized the slope operation function of mower crusher,using two relative rotating shells realized the action that the cutter followed theground to swing from side to side. The shell that fixedly connected with the mainengine was set a lug boss on the bottom. At the same time, the shell connected withthe cutter was provided with the card slot on the middle bottom, made the lug boss godeep into the card slot, among them, the type card slot was wider20~30mm than thelug boss. By means of the combined action of the relative rotation between the shelland the fomer bar that installed at the bottom of the cutter during the working time,increased the slop profiling ability of walking mountainous region mower crusher, thependulum angle of cutter following the ground reached25degrees. It was suitable forhill land operation.⑷Design calculation and Solidworks simulation analysis were used to the keyparts, such as level gear, the drive shaft and so on. Its calculation results, the stress,strain, deformation displancement and safety coefficient were all conformed to therequirements of component design.⑸In order to determine the key design parameters of mountain mower crusher,an experiment was conducted in the right of requirements for alfalfa harvestingtechnology. By changing three main parameters(cutting speed ratio, press rollercircumferential speed, reel speed ratio) which influenced the working performanceindex of mountain mower crusher, with the low working stubble height, few recuttingtimes, high flattening ratio and small broken grass loss rate as evaluating indicators,through the orthogonal experiments, application comprehensive balance methodobtained the optimal combination working parameters: the cutting ration was2.5, the press roller circumferential speed was4.2m/s, the reel speed ratio was2.5. Measuredwith the optimal combination of operational parameters, the results showed that, theworking stubble was42mm, the recutting rate was0.73%, the flattening ratio was46.5%and the crushed grass loss rate was2.3%, which could meet the demand offorage harvest operation.
