Aimed at the reality problems that the efficiency of traditional manual harvesting pasture(alfalfa) which grow at small terraces or sloping fields in northwest China is low, it is easy to miss the best harvesting period, and lost the crude protein modulation without crushed forage, which restricts planting enthusiasm of farmers and herdsmen and development of animal husbandry. Combined with agronomic requirements forage harvesting and planting terrain, by using Auto CAD, Solidworks and other simulation software, key parameters for medium and small plots of forage flattening device were designed by the optimal parameter combination,a kind of small mower crusher flattening device was designed. The follow contents were deeply researched.(1)In order to achieve the agronomic requirements of the flattening device, increasing flattening effect and practical performance, a new flatten adjusting device of mower conditioner was developed, which consisted of V shaped floating frame, articulated shaft, front adjusting screw, behind adjusting screw, sliding block, etc. Fixed adjustment with the use of space automatically adjust the double-acting through the screw driving V shaped floating frame around the joint shaft rotation to adjust clearance, and adopting the return spring roller automatic reset after zone,the flattened roll flattening effect and the ability to adapt to the working environment were improved.(2)Combined with planting biological characteristics and harvesting agronomic requirements of alfalfa, a sort of hollow flattening roller was designed, which consisted of breadth axis, connecting plate, seamless steel tube and herringbone steel tooth. The symmetric distribution of tooth profile structure to enhance the strength, feeding forage grass output performance and flattening uniformity, basic can meet the quality requirements of the clover products can be basic met.(3) The Solidworks software Simulation of the Simulation analysis were used to the key parts of flattening device.The calculation results, the stress, strain, deformation displancement and safety coefficient were all conformed to the requirements of component design.(4)In order to study the key parameters of flattening device on the effects of the flattening, the main parameters affect with the operational performance indicators by changing such as the flattening roller tooth surface materials,the feeding amount, the flattened roll gap, the tension of spring were changed. With high flattening rate and loss rate of crushed grass(Only consider flattening and spread) evaluation indexes for the test were built, combined with orthogonal experiment research and statistical analysis, the optimal solution was obtained. The experimental results showed that:for alfalfa planting on terraced dryland, the herringbone steel gear rolls was selected with the feeding amount was 2.16 kg / s, the flattened roll gap was 3mm,and the tension of spring was 1000N; For irrigated Alfalfa, the herringbone rubber gear rolls was selected with the feeding amount was 2.16 kg / s, the flattened roll gap was 2.5mm,and the tension of spring was 850 N.
