There has been numerous important accomplishment in using chemical compounds to regulate the growth and development of crops or increase the yield and quality of crops.Some of the chemical control techniques have already become standard techniques during the production of cotton, rice and oilseed rape, and also play as key matching techniques in high yield and quality. However, there is still a long way to reach the requirement of production that the application of techniques of chemical regulation on staple crops. Therefore, according to the physiological characteristics, environmental conditions and manufacture requirement, developing certain type of plant growth regulators formula which suitable for specified conditions, is essential for agricultural industry. “Xi Nong 389” and “Zheng Dan 958” were used as plant materials. The effects of combined growth regulators on wheat seedlings and maize seedlings were studied.The physiological and biochemical indexes of wheat and maize were determined and analyzed. The results were showed as follows:(1) After leaf spraying 40 and 70 days, the number of tillering in winter and the effective tillering number in spring of next year had increased significantly. The biomass of above-ground and under-ground increased significantly;(2) The amount of electrolyte leakage of the leaves, the content of chlorophyll in leaves, the content of soluble sugar, starch, soluble amino compounds, soluble protein, proline and malondialdehyde(MDA) in leaves and roots, all those indexes related to cold resistance had no significant discrepancy between two groups, which indicated that cold resistance of sprayed wheat did not decline due to the stimulation of growth;(3) The net photosynthetic rate of maize leaves can be improved by the growth regulators under drought condition. Spraying growth regulators can improve Amax, AQY, Rd and light saturation point(LSP), but the light compensation point(LCP) had no significant change.(4) The chlorophyll content and soluble protein content in the leaves of maize under drought condition could be improved by spraying growth regulators.(5) Spraying plant growth regulators could improve plant height and stem diameter of maize under both drought and normal condition. Spraying plant growth regulators also could promote the biomass accumulation of the above-ground and under-ground parts of the maize, improve the maize yield per plant and hundred-grain weight.To sum up, this combined wheat growth regulators is an effective growth regulators formula which improves growth of winter wheat without decline of the cold resistance. Meanwhile, it can effectively promote the tillering number of winter wheat.This maize growth regulators can improve the growth related indicators, photosynthetic capacity and drought resistance of maize seedlings under drought condition.
