In this paper, compound chinese herbal medicine extracts which is used to replace feeding antibiotics in the process of our early study is used as raw materials, and to study the scavenging function for free radicals in vitro and antioxidant function in vivo of the extracts as well as its each single drug, and antioxidant ingredient is preliminary analyzed, and to explore antioxidant mechanism, and finally to provide theoretical basis for the further development and utilization.1 The study of scavenging activity for free radicals on compound chinese herbal medicine extracts. Through antioxidant experiment in vitro, to study the scavenging effect of compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug on DPPH· free radical and hydroxyl free radical, and to detect its reducing ability. The study results: Compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug have strong scavenging activity on DPPH· free radical and hydroxyl free radical, but the same kind of medicine have different scavenging effect on different free radical. Among them, the order of strong and weak for scavenging DPPH· free radical is that Chinese gall > compound 1 > Chinese mosla herb > wild chrysanthemum flower > plum > folium isatidis > compound 2 > Radix bupleuri; the order of strong and weak for scavenging hydroxyl free radical is that Chinese gall > plum > compound 1 > compound 2 > folium isatidis > wild chrysanthemum flower > Chinese mosla herb > Radix bupleuri; Within the detected concentration scope, the reducing ability of compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug increases with the increase of concentration. Under the same concentration, the order of the reducing ability is that Chinese gall > compound 1 > wild chrysanthemum flower > Chinese mosla herb > plum > compound 2 > folium isatidis > Radix bupleuri.2 The study of antioxidant activity in vitro for compound chinese herbal medicine extracts. Through animal experimental, to study the effect of compound chinese herbal medicine extracts whose the main component is plum on the antioxidant enzymes SOD activity, GSH-PX activity and the content of lipid peroxides MDA for peripheral blood, heart, liver, spleen and kidney of mice. The study results: Compound 2 has strong antioxidant ability on mice. On three levels of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg·bw, the extracts significantly enhanced the antioxidant enzymes SOD activity and GSH-PX activity for peripheral blood, heart, liver, spleen and kidney of mice, and reduced the content of lipid peroxides MDA, and that presented the dose-response relationship. Among them, under the 200 mg/kg·bw doses, the SOD activity of above tissue increased by 46.44%, 26.55%, 55.15%, 34.71% and 83.74% in turn, respectively; the GSH-PX activity of above tissue increased by 17.23%, 0.58%, 44.57%, 49.54% and 22.49% in turn, respectively; the MDA content of above tissue idecreased by 13.65%, 34.42%, 11.60%, 16.63% and 28.73% in turn, respectively.3 The analysis of antioxidant activity ingredients of compound chinese herbal medicine extracts. Through UV Chromogenic reaction, to detect the content of polyphenols and flavonoids for compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug. The study results: The polyphenols content that is from high to low in turn is that Chinese gall > compound 1 > Chinese mosla herb > compound 2 > wild chrysanthemum flower > plum > folium isatidis > Radix bupleuri; The flavonoid content that is from high to low in turn is that Chinese gall > Chinese mosla herb > compound 1 > compound 2 > wild chrysanthemum flower > plum > folium isatidis > Radix bupleuri; Among them, the content of polyphenols and flavonoid is the highest, 30.59 ug/mg, 58.47 ug/mg, respectively. The correlation coefficient of IC50 value for compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug on DPPH· free radical and polyphenols content is-0.422; for flavonoids content, the correlation coefficient is-0.609. The correlation coefficient of IC50 value for compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug on hydroxyl free radical and polyphenols content is-0.443; for flavonoids content, the correlation coefficient is-0.506. According to the above result, there is moderate correlation for DPPH· and hydroxyl free radical, this suggests that scavenging effect of chinese herbal medicine on free radical has a relationship with other elements of chinese herbal medicine except polyphenols and flavonoids. Conclusion:Compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug have strong scavenging activity on DPPH· free radical and hydroxyl free radical. Within the detected concentration scope, the reducing ability of compound chinese herbal medicine extracts as well as its each single drug increases with the increase of concentration. Compound 2 has strong antioxidant ability on mice. The scavenging effect of chinese herbal medicine as well as its each single drug on fre e radical has a medium relationship with the content of polyphenols and flavonoids.
