Four mitigation techniques, including the selection of watermelon cultivars, rootstocks varieties, soil treatment and microbial fertilizers were compared to discuss the comprehensive effect of thesetechniques on alleviating watermelon continuous cropping obstacle. The purpose of this study is to findout a set of comprehensive technology system to mitigate continuous cropping obstacles for greenhousewatermelon to alleviate partly the limitation of drought and flood rotation system to promote sustainableand healthy development of watermelon industry facilities, and to provide a reference for the vegetableproduction and development of the county facilities. It showed that more than95%of farmers use grafting techniques, crop rotation and landinterchange to alleviate continuous cropping obstacles in the protected watermelon production at presenttime.40%of the farmers use crop rotation from watermelon to rice,60%use field exchange planting.Several planting patterns were used for the current production, from which, the most economic rotationapplication is crop rotation, which can control Fusarium wilt over95%. Grafting technology are oftenused together with crop rotation and field exchange, namely in2-3years continuous cropping, theywould use grafted seedling, crop rotation or field exchange. This could control the Fusarium wiltdisease over90%.In early spring, the best variety is ‘Xiaolan’, resistant to Fusarium Wilt with the bestcomprehensive characters, then the ‘Jinbite’varity and ‘zhao Hongyu’. No.1and No.1Han anvilgrafting have good affinity, can effectively control Fusarium wilt, significantly improve the yield ofwatermelon, but would have certain influence on the quality of watermelon. The disinfection treatmentto soil with fungicides and quicklime had certain effect on Fusarium Wilt. Using quicklime+biologicalfertilizer treatment is very convenient, safety and low cost. This treatment have high economic benefitand can be easily used. Microbial agents can also prevent watermelon wilt disease, with lower cost andhigher yield. After three years of continuous cropping of watermelon, we selected certain effect of selectingcultivars, rootstocks, chemical treatment and microbial application to control Fusarium Wilt and raiseother agronomic characters. In practice, these treatment methods can be combined, even with ricerotation to comprehensively prevent and control continuous cropping barrier.
