The management of a big forest area is typically a tough work. The probability of having a fire in an environment of high temperature and low humidity is very high, so a forest fire monitoring system with high reliability is urgently needed.On the basis of the actual environment requirements, the forest fire alarming system is built, upon the usage of the Internet of Things (IOT), wireless sensor network (WSN) based on Zigbee protocol, giga-byte network adapter working under NAPI mode, GPRS technology and mathematical modeling. This thesis mainly achieved the following:(1) Analysis of the requirements and targets of the forest fire monitoring system. Design of the strategy of forest fire monitoring.(2) Zigbee stack was chosen as the WSN communication protocol, and CC2530as the main chip in this system. Designed the circuits of WSN nodes, and wrote related driving programs. For the need of long term working in the forest, solar energy cells and timed dormancy strategy for data collecting nodes were adopted.(3) AX88180was chosen as the network adapter chip in gateway, and GPRS as the remote data transmitting protocol. Zigbee-GPRS gateway was setup and transmitting programs were designed. Take the massive amount of nodes and data into account, a network adapter driver working in NAPI mode was designed and successfully transplanted into the ARM9development board, in order to send data with high-efficiency.(4) Under Windows environment, MATLAB modeling technique as well as multi-point Gaussian fire model were adopted to analyzing and processing acquired data. On the basis of real-time communicating with monitoring area, a3-D display GUI was set up for firing range and seriousness under unexpected situations, to better guide firemen.The experiments showed that the whole system achieved our goals of monitoring temperature, infrared intensity and humidity in real time, the performance of data capture efficiency and bandwidth was improved with the help of NAPI driver and giga-byte network adapter, and the monitoring center could intuitively foresee the positions of potential risks.
