Feed conditioning refers to the process which powdered feed are subject tohydro-thermal treatment and then are made into pellets. It improved quality and efficiencyof pelleting by pasting starch, denaturating protein and softening materials. So, the pros andcons of process for conditioners and conditioning equipments directly affected the quality ofpelleted feed.To the problems that conditioners existed material residual on the conditioning roomand the poor self-cleaning ability on the market currently, the author presented a newconditioning process, that is, adding the chute conveying means between feeder andconditioner. On the one hand, it has a certain cushioning effect to convery material; on theother hand, it can remove magnetic impyrities in the material.Based on the new conditioning process, the author made a double-layered single shaftpaddle feed conditioner, and made a indepth study to conditioning axis which is keycomponent, got preferred process and operting parameters which was the upper conditionerworks at a speed of250r/min, with an angle of5°for high-speed conditioning; the lowerconditioner,25r/min with an angle of45°for keeping moisture in the feed. At the same time,the upper and lower conditioners used paddles instead of the spiral blades to achieve mixingand transporting feed, thus, conditioner could effectively reduce the probability of cloggingon the inlet, and had a strong self-cleaning ability.Later, the author made a three-dimensional model based on the key parts of theconditioner with Pro/E, and assembled the whole machine on a virtual basis. What’s more,the author conducted finite element analysis on the conditioning axis, the security of whichis verified.The designed to new conditioning process and double-layered single shaft paddle feedconditioners contribute to the theatrical study and practical use of conditioning technologiesand equipment.
