| The 44 Cynodon dactylon( L.) Pers and Elytrigia repens(L.) materials collected from Xinjiang were studied to evaluate the biological characteristics, lawn-using characteristic, production performance and propagation properties. The results showed as follows:1. Morphological characteristics and growth period for 26 bermudagrass materials and 18 quackgrass metarials suggested that the turning-green period of bermudagrass C50, C60 and C100 were earlier than other materials, C50 and C60 had longer green-period; The turning-green period of quackgrass E3, E4, E22, E38 were earlier than other materials, E8, E26 had longer green-period; The observation result of morphological characteristics suggested that, for bermudagrass, the coefficient of variation for leaf layer height and erect stem diameter were the highest. for quackgrass, the coefficient of variation for leaf length and leaf layer height were the highest, as meaned that these indexes could be further improved. Based on these studies, cluster analysis was made, the result showed that the bermudagrass materials could be divided into 3 groups. C84 was suitable for grazing and other 23 materials were suitable for lawn, the quackgrass materials could be divided into 3 groups. E37 and E38 were suitable for grazing and other materials were suitable for lawn.2. With 8 evaluation indexes, evaluation on the turf quality of 26 bermudagrass materials and 18 quackgrass metarials was done by comprehensive evaluation method. The results showed, for quackgrass materials, the comprehensive scores ranged from 11.35 to 15.20, the comprehensive scores of E9, E22 and E35 were respectively 15.20, 15.15 and 15.00, as meaned that these materials were suitable for lawn; for bermudagrass materials, the comprehensive scores ranged from 11.40 to 15.90, the comprehensive scores of C50, C63 were respectively 15.80 and 15.90, because they had higher density, deeper leaf color and longer green-period, as meaned that they were suitable for lawn.3. Hay yield, stem-leaf ratio, dried-fresh ratio of 18 quackgrass metarials and 26 bermudagrass materials suggested that, for quackgrass materials, the hay yield of E9 was the highest and it was 746.64g/m2,The next was E38 and it was 674.68 g/m2, the hay yield of E4 and E7 were the lowest and they were respectively 234.68 g/m2 and 264.00 g/m2. For bermudagrass materials, the hay yield of C32 and C103 were the highest and they were respectively 1269.32g/m2 and 1269.36 g/m2, the next was C109 and it was 826.67 g/m2, the hay yield of C32 and C103 were the lowest and they were respectively 298.67 g/m2 and 368.00 g/m2.4. The propagation ability of 21 quackgrass metarials was studied with plant height, growth rate, tiller number as evaluation indexes, the result showed E32 was more excellent than other materials and the index average value were respectively 19.37±4.01 cm ã€0.19±0.06cm/dã€164.10±73.18a/plant. The propagation ability of 23 bermudagrass materials was studied with number of stolon, tillers, stolon internode length and growth rate as evaluation indexes, the result showed that C63 had the strongest tillering ability and the number reached 254.8a/plant on September 9, C40 and C99 had the fastest growth rates with 1.03 and 1.02 cm/d2. C72 and C76 had the longest stolon internode length. The cluster analysis indicated that 9 bermudagrass materials including C63ã€C72 and C76 ect. had stronger propagation ability. The average value of each index respectively were 89.83±52.9 a/plant, 191.93±114.7a/plant, 2755.50±1752.67 cm, 0.74±0.39cm/d.5. Comprehensive evaluation of morphological characteristics, lawn-using, production and propagation performance, for Cynodon dactylon, C84 had higher plants height, leaf length and width, upright stem diameter, strong propagation capability, suitable for grazing, C63, C136 had smaller leaves, and strong propagation capability, suitable for turf. For Elytrigia repens, E37, E38 had higher plants height and stronger propagation capability, suitable for grazing, E24, E32 had better leaf texture and stronger propagation capability, suitable for turf. |
