This essay regards the botanical garden of Zhejiang Agricultural and Forestry University as the research object, building the garden ecological evaluation index system according to the literature studying methods. Based on comprehensive survey of campus plant community, it uses analysis of community ecology to study the characteristics of campus woody plant community and discusses the rationality of the botanical garden’s configuration. Combining with the above research, finally I will use the hierarchy analysis methods to evaluate the ecological quality of botanical garden synthetically. The research results are as follows:1. According to the literature studying methods, I referred to a lot of literature based on evaluation index system and make data analysis. Moreover, I have concluded the factors that affect the ecological quality through field investigation and consultation to related experts. Then I selected botanical garden’s ecological function, education function, service function, cultural function as the criterion layer, and plants’ diversity, rarity, representation, educational nature, landmark nature, sight nature and theme culture as index layer to build the index system of ecological quality evaluation of botanical garden.2. According to the botanical garden campus plan, I selected 21 representative survey areas and analyzed characteristics and diversities of woody plant community. Here is the result: There are 196 species of woody plants, among which 81 species are tree layer and 115 species are shrub layer. Important species are Ginko biloba, Paulowhia tomehtosa, Cihhamomum camphora, Sapihdus mukorossi, Populus euram evicana, Osmahthus fragrahs, Lagerstroemia ihdica, Cerasus serrulata var.lahhesiaha, Prunus mume and Malus micromalus. The botanical garden’s plant community diversity index is above 0.9, which shows the complex structure of plant community and richness of species.3. The essay is aimed at evaluating the ecological quality of the Botanical garden to get a result of ecological quality index 0.7651 which indicates a good ecological quality of botanical garden by using AHP to judge and assign by 20 graduates majoring in ecology, landscape art design, landscape architecture and 10 specialists in Zhejiang A & F University according to index system and various indicators of grade assignment table based on Zhejiang A & F University Botanic Garden.
