Planococcus minor Maskell is a kind of China quarantine pest with a wide range of host. The life table of the laboratory population fed on potato was built at different temperature, based on the researches of morphic characters, habitus, developmental threshold temperature, effective accumulated tempeature and developmental durations; and the toxicities of five types of insecticide to Planococcus minor were detemined in the laboratory. The potential distribution areas of Planococcus minor in China were predicted by CLMEX. The main results obtained were as follows:1.For Planococcus minor Maskell, the shortest generation durations of females and males were 30.34 d and 28.80 d respectively at 29, while the longest generation duration were 54.35 d and 51.97 d at 20,and the relationship between development and temperature could be simulated by the Logistic model.2.For females, the developmental threshold temperature and effective accumulated temperature were 10.74, and 610.15 day-degree, and for males, were 8.52 and 655.48 day-degree. between 20 to 32,the survival rate was 46.00%- 77.33% while the population trend index was 51.33-134.31, and the temperature of 29 was the most suitable condition. At 17 and 32, growth retardation appeared in the 1st instar nymphs. So, high and low temperatures is not suitable for the population growth of the P. minor.3.The toxicitity of five insecticides to adult female of P. minor was tested in the laboratory. the results showed that the susceotibility of P. minor to these insecticides was ranked from high to low as following: Imidacloprid > Acetamiprid > Abamectin > Chorpyrifos > Efficient cypermethrin.4.CLMEX was used for predicting the potential distribution area of P. minor in China and the resule showed that southern China was the main potential distribution areas.
