In order to explore the quantity trends and production performance caused by the seeding rates and varieties of alfalfa,we adopted split plot design with the seeding rate (15.0,22.5,30.0kg/hm2) as the main area,8 different fall dormant classes of alfalfa varieties as subplot, carried out field experiments to research the production performance of alfalfa. The results were as follows:1) The wintering rate of three different seeding rates had no significant difference, and those of different alfalfa varieties among 85.53%-98.24%.Due to dormant and semi-dormant alfalfa varieties had higher wintering rate than that of non-dormant alfalfa,so they should be selected as cultivating alfalfa in Henan province.2) The three seeding rates in all varieties showed similar growth trend, which plant numbers were the largest at the beginning of growth stage, then were decreased, and those kept stable. At the early growing stage, there were significant differences in plant numbers among different seeding rates. Along with the increase of growth stage, these differences gradually reducing and finally become stable, all varieties had the similar trends.3)The plant hight of low seeding rate was higher than that of high seeding rate, so DM yields of three seeding rates had no significant difference in all cuttings. According to the seed price,1.0kg seeding rate per mu was appropriate. The DM yields of different alfalfa varieties had no significant difference, but those of semi-dormant and non-dormant varieties had little high yield comparing with dormant varieties. Because non-dormant the alfalfa had lower wintering rate, the semi-fall dormant alfalfa varieties should be selected for Henan or its similar climate districts.4) FD classes had positive correlation with plant height and DM yield, and plant height had extremely significant positive correlation with DM yield, this relationship can be used as one of the main basis for breeding high yield varieties. In order to explore the Nutritional quality caused by the seeding rates and varieties of alfalfa,we adopted split plot design with the seeding rate (15.0,22.5,30.0kg/hm2) as the main area,8 different fall dormant classes of alfalfa varieties as subplot, carried out field experiments to research the Nutritional quality of alfalfa. The results were as follows:1). According to the ranking of weight coefficient, Alfalfa of semi-dormancy varieties has the best nutritive value, then comes to fall dormancy, non-fall dormancy lists at the last, which occupy the top 3 are Surprise, WL-363HQ and WL-343, whose fall-dormancy levels are:FD 4, FD 5 and FD 4. Compared by seeding rate, nutritive value ranking of the three are:30kg/hm2,22.5kg/hm2 and 15kg/hm2.2). Adopt AHP to evaluate and establish Evaluate model for average annual growth of Alfalfa: 9=0.331CP+0.250NDF+0.208ADF+0.073ASH+0.069Ca+0.043EE+0.025P; 3)Fall-dormancy level shows extremely Significant negative correlation with CP and Phosphorus content, obvious extremely positive correlation with Calcium and Crude ash;Crude protein shows Significant positive correlation with Phosphorus content, obvious extremely negative correlation with Acid Detergent Fiber and Calcium content; Crude Ether Extract extremely Significant negative correlation with Acid Detergent Fiber and Neutral Detergent Fiber;Crude ash shows extremely Significant negative correlation with Acid Detergent Fiber and Neutral Detergent Fiber.
